John Job Crew Bradfield            
John Bradfield was born in 1867 in Sandgate, Queensland, Australia and is best know for being one of the original designers of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.  During his career he was associated with a great range of engineering works including the Cataract Dam and the Burrinjuck Dam.  
1867 - 1943
In 1913 he was appointed Chief Engineer for metropolitan railway construction and travelled overseas to report on the proposed electric railway lines for the city of Sydney.
In 1924 he submitted his thesis to the University of Sydney entitled "The city and suburban electric railways and the Sydney Harbour Bridge" and for this he received the first doctorate of science awarded by the university.  
He maintained close links with the university until his death in 1943.
