Inspiration drawn from nature has inspired many designers and Wikkala’s organic quality of design is drawn from love of his native Finland – Time spent in woods rather than at the drawing board has led to the trademark style associated with his glass, metal and wood products.
The ‘Puukko’ knife and many others of his designs appear in sale rooms and exhibitions – His plywood chair designs that embellished the Finnish Pavilion at Milan’s Triennial and the cutlery designed for the Finnish airline Finnair are no less forgotten.
